Hubbell Extreme
In 2006, ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition called on Hubbell Homes to build one Iowa family the home of their dreams. Over 4,000 volunteers and 200 companies traveled to Tama County, Iowa to build a home for Shawn and Amy Kibe and their three sons. In December 2004, life was good for the Kibe family after moving from the city to the country to fulfill Shawn’s dream of being a farmer and making a better life for his family of five. With life and business on the farm flourishing, everything seemed perfect until a few days before Christmas 2005 when their house caught fire. The Kibes returned home just in time to see firemen removing their charred Christmas presents out of the newly broken windows. The family was forced to move into a tiny one bedroom rented camper on their own property. This camper wasn’t big enough for camping, let alone living. The three boys split their time between sleeping on the couch or outside in pup tents. With 104 hours to build a new 3,200 square foot home, Hubbell Homes and its army of contractors and trade partners only needed 93 hours to complete the job.

9 Homes in 9 Days
Anawim Housing Project Fall 2009
Since that time, the friends and families of Hubbell have wished to relive that incredible week – a week of hard work and sleepless nights that gave new hope to a family of five that struggled for so long. Today, Hubbell has that opportunity thanks to those at Anawim Housing. Only this time, Hubbell will do it bigger and better right here in the heart of Des Moines, providing housing for Nine Families in Nine Days.
